WOONSOCKET – A local business that started as a holiday pop-up last November has now become the latest addition to Main Street’s storefronts.

Geri’s Bluffing Boutique, a clothing and home décor boutique offering imported and locally made African design, has a new location at 285 Main St. Owner Geraldine Barclay-King, a city resident, said it gives her a sense of pride to be able to give back in the heart of Woonsocket.

“I’m still in the surreal stage. And what I mean is, it’s all new for me,” she said.

Barclay-King received a $5,000 state micro-grant to assist with moving expenses from her pop-up location in the Millrace Kitchen at 40 South Main St. The new location is in a commercial complex that also features The Art Den and a Sparks Law office.

Along with being convenient for her family, Barclay-King said the new location is close to Main Street’s popular draws, including the Stadium Theatre, Chan’s and the Polar Express.

“The location was perfect because my eldest one, he’s at Founders, and my youngest gets dropped off on Hamlet,” she said.

Barclay-King, originally from Liberia, said she wanted to bring a more diverse culture to the local shopping scene. The store offers both modern and traditional African clothing design as well as gift sets, face masks, fashion accessories and home décor items.

With the addition of Geri’s Bluffing Boutique along with several other recent businesses, Main Street’s storefronts are inching closer to full occupancy. According to Garrett Mancieri, executive director of the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, the area is down to about 20 percent commercial vacancy.

Barclay-King also plans to offer classes and workshops in the new space. For a full list of upcoming classes, visit www.bluffingboutique.com . Geri’s Bluffing Boutique is open Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or by appointment.
