WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Police Department reported Wednesday that an officer was injured when the police cruiser he was driving early Wednesday morning hit a parked vehicle and flipped over on Rathbun Street.

Officer William Rivera, 21, was driving down Rathbun Street around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning when he hit a parked vehicle, causing the cruiser to flip onto its roof. Rivera, who joined the department in December, was on duty at the time, though he was not involved in a chase or reporting to an incident.
