International Coastal Cleanup to include Smithfield

SMITHFIELD – On and around Sept. 16, during National Estuaries Week, Save The Bay is organizing Rhode Island’s International Coastal Cleanup, a global event bringing more than 800,000 volunteers together cleaning litter from shorelines around the world.

In Rhode Island, more than 2,000 volunteers are expected to clean up 85 or more sites, including a town-wide cleanup in Smithfield, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, starting at Georgiaville Pond. Community members who wish to participate at these or other locations can sign up at http://volunteer.savebay.org/international-coastal-cleanup/ .
