CUMBERLAND – As growing operations wind down in the Franklin Farm garden, land is being cleared for the Harvest Festival & Tractor Show, a fun-filled event planned for Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the farm, 142 Abbott Run Valley Road.

Volunteers are needed for many activities, including selling raffle tickets, T-shirts and other items, running craft and game stations, operating the hay wagon, and running the chef station. A minimum of two hours are needed to volunteer. Email Denise Mudge at franklinfarm65@gmail.com or call 401-413-5690 for more information.

The Sept. 30 event is a fundraiser for the Historic Metcalf-Franklin Farm Preservation Association. Come for tractors, music, scenic hayrides, barn tours, pony rides, a plant sale, local vendors, games and food. The farm will also hold its first pie baking contest for amateur bakers. Parking is $2, but entrance is free. The rain date is Oct. 1.
