PAWTUCKET – More than 450 submissions have been received for the city’s 19th Annual Photo Contest and are on display throughout the month of September in the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center Gallery, 175 Main St.

From the 450 entries, 12 winning photos will be selected by a panel of local professional photographers. Following tradition, one winning photo will be chosen by Mayor Donald Grebien for the honor of being used for the cover shot of the 2018 city calendar. All winning photos will be used in the calendar.

After a public call for photo contest themes was advertised in January, approximately 10 theme suggestions were submitted. The theme selected for this year’s contest was “The Flavor of Pawtucket” submitted by Wendy Jencks of Cumberland.

Winners will be announced by Grebien on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. at a public reception.

Sponsors are the city of Pawtucket, the Pawtucket School Department, the Pawtucket Arts Festival, and The Camera Werks of Providence.
