Dr. Yasigian says thanks and goodbye to patients, families

On Sept. 1, I retired from Blackstone Valley Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine and Just Kids RI Sick Care. The reins of our very busy practice and the sick care have been assumed by the very capable Drs. Maureen Crotty and Alexander Lee. I have total confidence in their ability to continue the excellent care the patients expect and to remain a leading pediatric practice in Rhode Island.

All the pediatricians, nurse practitioners, RN, X-ray techs and medical assistants work together to achieve the best care possible for patients. I feel very honored to have worked with this team of professionals.

I moved to Cumberland 32 years ago and joined Dr. Yazbak in his pediatric practice known as Y&Y Pediatrics. The years have flown.

My wife, Debbie, and I raised two children and our daughter met our son-in-law when she was an 8th-grader at Mount St. Charles Academy. Northern Rhode Island is a great place to raise children and our son and daughter played baseball and softball, our daughter danced and we enjoyed small town life; from fireworks to 4th of July parades and CumberlandFest to raising money for cancer by sponsoring Relay for Life.

I enjoyed my patients and being part of their lives. It is so satisfying watching a young person grow and to succeed in realizing their potential and their dreams. It is gratifying to have that same young adult return to the practice as a new parent. It is a full circle moment that never gets mundane.

It is time to start the next chapter, to have some free time for my hobbies, and to spend time with my grandchildren. I look back on my years in Cumberland with appreciation. Thank you to everyone I met through the years because getting to know you enriched my life.

Peter Yasigian, M.D.
